Shopping Adventures, 16"x20", Digital Oil Painting, 2022
I made this portrait by drawing on a single layer. Really testing the potential the live oil brushes have for a painterly experience.
Someone even commented on this one, "Traditional art but...d I g I t a l."
Which made me feel better about it.
This is actually the second portrait I drew from the same series of reference photos. The first portrait I drew had the wrong feeling. The intention and emotion were not clear, which made me feel really frustrated. I kept trying to force it, but alas, it went to the creator graveyard never to see the light of the internet.
Determined to make something from this moment I wanted to share, I got back to work and made the portrait you see here. This portrait taught me an important lesson on reflecting on intention and emotions BEFORE I start drawing. I also learned that by drawing on a single layer for the entire process, the time-lapse turns out much smoother.
