Melody always dreamed of becoming a stay-at-home mom. When her children were born she gladly transitioned into a homemaker and mother. During these early years with young children, she tried to continue with the practices she knew working with acrylics, oils, and watercolors. Her attempts were futile as she struggled without time, space, and energy to create away from helping hands. One day her spouse Ben brought home a tablet with the assignment to become familiar with Adobe Fresco. Melody’s curiosity peaked and she spent the evening with the app. At that moment her creative pursuits found an unexpected outlet: digital art. Here was a way to stay connected with her creative side while still having time to care for her family.
Melody has not received formal training in art, but she is willing to try new things, learn, and improve. As she explores the vast possibilities of color and texture, her work becomes more diverse, creative, and emotive. This is where she found her calling; her passion for the process and her skill in capturing emotion and feeling.
Melody aims to show that creating art is a way of life and that the process is something that should be cherished and enjoyed. In sharing time-lapses of her process on social media, she hopes for others to experience art-making as she does, one small adjustment at a time. In her own words, Melody says: “It’s all about learning, growing, and understanding. We all have unique stories that can inspire us to be our best selves. I just want to try and show people the beauty of trusting the process.” Her artwork is as much about the journey of creating as it is about the destination.
